“X” Out Your Pumping Pain Points with Evolution X

Posted by Jake Weston on Jun 30, 2025 9:02:06 AM

AODD pumps are a critical component of manufacturing and industrial processes, as well as countless other applications. They solve problems that other pumps simple can’t. They’re relatively low cost, can be used in tricky situations, and come in a wide variety of materials to accommodate abrasive, corrosive, and viscous fluids as well as those laden with solids and other potentially hazardous foreign objects. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t without their own pain points.

Sometimes AODD pumps can be tricky to maintain. Often, they’re built with many bolts of varying sizes and require a major time commitment to get inside the air or wet side to perform routine maintenance or make repairs. They can be heavy and difficult to maneuver for a single person. Sometimes they require a long list of replacement parts which makes inventory tricky to manage in case of emergency. AODD pumps are also often round, which makes them prone to rolling around on a work bench during servicing and in general makes maintaining or rebuilding a chore. In the end, the perfect storm of facing all these issues at once can lead to costly downtime for a business and many headaches for a maintenance team.

We’ve heard, and we agree, with all those pain points. At times, they just come with the territory of AODD pump applications. BUT… that doesn’t mean it always has to be this way.

Evolution X is a Game Changer

The culmination of years or research and testing, Evolution X is the most revolutionary pump to hit the market in decades. Our engineers spoke to end users about all these pain points we discussed and went back to the drawing board.

All the problems that AODD pumps can pose are a complicated nut to crack if you want to solve them all. But that’s what our team did, and the Evolution X platform was launched. Designed as the perfect replacement, or upgrade, for our current standard duty 1” pump, Evolution X fits the bill in every way.

X Out the Number of Wet Side Bolts on a Pump

Reduce the number of bolts that hold the wet side of an AODD pump together. You said it and we listened. Your typical AODD pump could require as many 16 bolts to secure the inner and outer chambers. Evolution X does it with 50% fewer fasteners, and they’re all the same size.

A kicker is that we also removed the need for washers. Now you, the maintenance guy, can use the same socket or wrench on every bolt on the wet side of the pump and you don’t have to keep track of or replace any washers through the whole process.

X Out the Instability of a Pump

AODD pumps are hard to work on. They’re rounded and tend to roll and rock during maintenance and servicing. Again, we listened. We added “stand-off-feet” to the inner chambers to stabilize the pump regardless of the position you need to place it in to work on it. Whether you’re disassembling the upper or lower manifolds, or you’re working on the pump in tight quarters or in a precarious position in the field, you can flip Evolution X any which way and still have a stable platform on which to do what you need to do.

X Out the Number of Air Side Bolts on a Pump

Make it easier to get in and work on the air side of the pump. You said and we did it. Evolution X now requires the removal of just 4 bolts to do all your air side work. But it gets even easier. Don’t worry about fussing with sleeve and spool sets or various air valves. Our team created easily removable air cartridges for the main air valve and pilot valve assembly.

Simply remove those 4 air side bolts, pop out the old cartridge and slide in the new one and your pump can be back in working order in mere minutes. It truly is a beautiful thing. No more O-rings to worry about. No more messy grease. No more worry about proper sleeve, spool, or air valve alignment. This feature really is the “easy button” every maintenance guy dreams about.

X Out Lengthy Maintenance Time

The best part of it all, however, is what putting all these changes together accomplishes. A standard AODD pump can take upwards of 45 minutes to get in and do the work you need to on the air distribution side of the pump. Evolution X can be done in as little as 5 minutes. That’s nearly a 90% reduction in time required to service the main and pilot air valves of a pump, and that IS A GAME CHANGER.

Imagine all the other work you could accomplish if you had 40 minutes of your time back for every standard AODD pump you replaced with an Evolution X. Imagine all the money you’d save your business by reducing downtime to repair an AODD pump. Imagine a world where you never had to spend time looking for that washer that fell behind the work bench or dropped on the floor. Just imagine the possibilities!

But Wait… There’s More

Everything we just covered are all major solutions to pain points that do exist for nearly all other AODD pumps in some capacity. Our engineers still weren’t satisfied. They went back to the drawing board again and gave Evolution X yet more features that no other pump can match.

Evolution X boasts the highest flow rate of any other 1” AODD pump. That means you’re getting more performance AND reduced maintenance headaches. They also built more efficiency into the air distribution side of the pump to make Evolution X, on average, 20% more efficient with air consumption throughout the entire curve compared to its 1” predecessor.

In addition, Evolution X maintains its versatility by coming in a wide range of materials, making it suitable for many different applications. We also give you numerous porting options so that Evolution X can fit into nearly any situation you throw at it. And lastly the mounting feet maintain the same dimensions as other Sandpiper pumps, as well as several other manufactures.

What Are You Waiting For? Make the Switch

Evolution X really is worth the hype. It’s changing the way many manufacturers look at utilizing AODD pumps in their processes and is having real impact for prioritizing and streamlining what maintenance teams can get done inside those facilities.
