This year marks the 60th year of business for Sandpiper, a milestone we are proud to achieve. Long-standing manufacturing and engineering expertise has built the reputation you all know us by and that culture of excellence we carry into the future with renewed vigor.
From the beginning our founder, Warren Rupp, strove to build the best products possible with the most innovation to solve customer needs. Utilizing sales relationships built on trust in the product and the people behind the pumps, that legacy we do not take lightly.
Bigger and better things are ahead. The world is a much smaller place than it seemed six decades ago. Our business, along with so many others, rely on long-distance relationships to execute our business model. A global perspective today means a lot more than just selling overseas. It means fostering associations around the world to build the best customer experience possible from start to finish.
When a potential customer takes interest in our product, they must be greeted with a welcoming digital presence serving up the information they seek with simplicity and speed. They must be met with kind and knowledgeable personnel if any questions or concerns arise. But above all, they must be able to get the product they want in a timely manner, no matter where we must ship it too. That is where a qualified, trained, expert network of global distributors makes all the difference.
Ultimately our end users, the manufacturers, miners, builders, developers, and industry leaders of the commercial and residential products, are the drivers of modern society. We wouldn’t have air conditioning, convenient transportation, computing power, premium clothing and quality food if not for the innovation of these businesses around the world.
We’ve always known that our products can help them make their products better, faster, and less costly to each of us daily consumers. We’ve implemented many new tools and processes over the last six decades to make our business and our products more accessible to a global audience. For instance, our Chemical Compatibility guide is a one-stop-shop to help end users understand what materials their pump needs to be made of to function properly in certain chemical or abrasive fluid transfer applications.
We also built a Kit Lookup tool to help end users find repair parts and kits for their specific pump model quickly and efficiently to avoid lengthy and costly downtime. We also have an in-house team of expert application engineers to help end users understand each of our pump’s capabilities and area of specialization so they know they’re getting the best pump for their needs. But our limitation has always been global logistics. That’s where our key players, our global network of distributors, make all the difference.
We are the pump experts. That’s why we’ve been the leading manufacturer of the best AODD pumps on the market for more than half a century. But certainly there are things that, for example, a distributor local to the semiconductor scene in Japan would have far more experience with than our own engineers. That person is best set up to help a semiconductor manufacturing plant execute on their unique mission and vision.
Our solution is to find out who that distributor is, build rapport, and let them tell us what the semiconductor needs now and will need in the future based on local trends and technologies. We ship them what they, the experts, know will be most beneficial for that semiconductor manufacturer, and let them fulfill the local orders. This cuts down on our inventory but allows the distributor to strategically expand theirs. It also allows us to build “made-to-order” pumps based on the trends they see in their local area of expertise. Who better to do so than a distributor with their thumb on the pulse of the manufacturers they serve?
The most important thing this allows us to do is ensure product availability and product training in a timely manner. No manufacturer wants to experience, nor can they afford, lengthy downtimes due to product malfunction or servicing. Global shipping can be a time-consuming process. But if the distributor in that local area, who has their own rapport with the manufacturing base in their local area, anticipates a need for a given quantity of pumps, they can place that order ahead of time, so it is ready when the manufacturers need it.
This global network of competent distributors is an important feature of how Sandpiper conducts business. To find a distributor near you, use the Find a Distributor tool.
